2016: Urban Ministry and Housing First Charlotte to assist in building an apartment complex for people experiencing homelessness in Charlotte - $5,000
Proceeds from the 2020 Strides for Shelter 5K Run / Walk will benefit Hope House Foundation. The Hope House Foundation mission is to provide transitional housing and supportive services to women and children who are experiencing homelessness in Mecklenburg County in order for them to procure long-term housing and self-sufficiency.
Funds from the race will be specifically used to complete the renovation of the garage area to create a play/learning space that cultivates resilience in children experiencing family homelessness. This newly created space will expand the services being offered to include an enhanced learning environment with new books, toys, and education tools and equipment.
